The impact of air pollution on the health of Krakow’s inhabitants
- the latest literature data prove that human exposure to suspended dust, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide is associated with an increased risk of heartbeat disturbances, bronchial and lung cancer and asthma;
- analysis of air pollution by: PM10 and PM2.5, SO2, NO2 and CO showed that unfavorable aerosanitary conditions occurred in Krakow, resulting in the persistence of above-standard concentrations of low-emission toxicants for a long period of time;
- the largest group of people using medical services due to asthma symptoms in the years 2010–2016 in Krakow were women. In the age structure, women dominated in the age categories 35–64 and 65+, while men dominated in the age category 0–34;
- air quality in the city forces residents to look for various types of solutions to help them breathe clean air, even in their homes, including: by: purchasing practical anti-smog awnings and cleanAir vertical filtering frames for FAKRO windows, air purifiers or installing mechanical ventilation in houses and apartments.
