11-12 th September 2025
Kraków, Poland
Dear Colleagues,
The 7th conference on Expropriation Law, hosted in Krakow by the University of Silesia (Katowice) and the Krakow University of Economics, in collaboration with the University of Groningen, the University of Cape Town, the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg), and the Radboud University (Nijmegen) invites you to rethink and explore legal, economic and social considerations of expropriation.
The Rethinking Expropriation Law conferences organized by the Expert Group on Expropriation Law promote global discussion among expropriation law scholars on common problems in order to find solutions to these problems and promote good governance standards around the world. Conferences have so far been held in: Groningen (2013), Rome (2014), The Hague (2015), Cape Town (2016), Katowice (2018) and Groningen (2022).
The seventh edition of the conference is being organized in Krakow with the intention of expanding the discourse to include economic issues, which often determine the shape of expropriation law and the principles of real estate management. Topics are also expected to address the issue of climate change and related threats to real estate security.
